Minka Dumont Kelly (born June 24, 1980) is an American actress. She starred in the NBC series Friday Night Lights as Lyla Garrity from 2006 to 2009.
Early life
Kelly was born in Los Angeles, California. She is the only child of former Aerosmith guitarist Rick Dufay and the late[citation needed] Maureen Kelly, a former Vegas showgirl. According to Kelly, her childhood was “pretty rough”. She resented Dufay, as he had abandoned her and her mother. However, at seventeen, she decided to try to reconcile with him by inviting him out to New Mexico. She is of Irish and French descent
Career
After graduating from high school, Kelly returned to Los Angeles with her father to pursue acting as a hobby while she went to school to become a surgical technician. However, after her first acting class she got “hooked” and began pursuing acting as a career. Success came slowly, and she began her career with small roles in various movies and shows, including the film State’s Evidence, and a recurring-guest role on the TV program What I Like About You.
In the spring she was cast as Lyla Garrity on the show Friday Night Lights. In preparation for the role, she trained with the Pflugerville High School cheerleading squad. Kelly has received praise for her acting on Friday Night Lights, with the New York Times calling her performance “heartbreaking”.
She shot a cameo for The Kingdom, alongside Jamie Foxx. Peter Berg, the creator and pilot director of Friday Night Lights, directed the film. Kelly was the lead actor on the CW’s 2009 pilot Body Politic which wasnt picked up as a series.
Minka joined forces with Alyson Hannigan, Jaime King, Emily Deschanel, and Katharine McPhee in a video slumber party featured on FunnyorDie.com to promote regular breast cancer screenings for the organization Stand Up 2 Cancer.
Minka Kelly landed a role in the CBS comedy pilot True Love as Kate, a Midwestern girl who falls in love with Henry — part of the quartet in the ensemble show — at the top of the Empire State Building, but was replaced by Sarah Chalke. Minka Kelly is the grand daughter of forties, fifties and sixties film actor Richard Ney.

Kelly dated Alex Galvin in 2003[citation needed] and Dylan Brazil in 2005, and had a relationship with actor Chris Evans. She dated musician John Mayer from September 2007 to January 2008. She’s been dating New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter since May 2008.

Did it for 4 years and quit in 2007... lost 20K and 95% of my friends...
Quixtar is not bad but the people running sub-businesses (such as BWW etc) by pushing tapes and books on you make it HELL

There is a lot of debate going on here, about how Canada and Australia have a better immigration system because they are points-based self-petition systems compared to employer-petition system here in US.

If I score 100 points out of required 50 or 60 points for Canada, its all meaningless if I am inept and cannot get a job. However, I would contribute to my own well-being and to the workforce and economy if I can find a job and an employer willing to petition, even if I score 25 points out of required 50 or 60.
You are missing a point here though...having gone through the Canadian point system myself back in the late 90s, the Canadian point system gives you added points for having current employment in your intended occupation.
When you don't have employment, you lose those points, and have to rely on other aspects of your profile to compensate for that..it is another story that their point system is lax enough to qualify most MS and PhD people even when they don't have current employment.
Ph.Ds driving cabs in Canada is the same as immigrant doctors working as nurses or lab technicians in the US.

Kashmir Hindus were ousted by Muslims. Even during the recent Mumbai attacks perpetrators gave a interview to the news channel saying that it is an attack on the Hindu India.
Still Hindus maintained communal harmony even though Antulay, a muslim ,tried to take advantage of the situation.Still people like you carp about Muslim discrimination.
What is this desperation to keep the almost non-existent (Hindus-hate Muslims, Hindus hate Christians)hatred/discrimination alive even though reality time and again proves the harmony of Hindus.
Even after all this I believe the truth that be it Hindus/Muslims/Christians... we are human beings and equal by the very virtue .

And that is great and the world appreciates that because it shows that this country can judge a person by his skills or character and not get stuck in bigoted views about muslims or other minorities. And we love this country for that
But when it comes to India, don't you think of voting for Rahul gandhi because he might have some blood of either a parsi or ('god forbid') muslim in him. That certainly should dis qualify him, shouldn't it. Nepotism is certainly bad but this takes the cake. If antis target the areas of immigration that are no "well defined" so far (H1b rules is one example, another could be AC21 same or similar job and yet another could be "permanent job" after greencard), it could create a lot of problems and may even practically shut down all legal immigration.
This will only increat outsourcing and actually hurt US economy and jobs...too bad that "blinded" politicians do not recognize this.

- Number of EB-2 I I-485 apps pending = 30,000
So if there is no spillover from other categories it will take north of 10 years for all the people who applied for I-485 in the July 2007 fiasco to get Green Cards. The only caveat to this would be attrition or legislation.

Hello Sir,
I am in a process of getting name change for my wife on pending I485. This is because her first name is given as 'No Name Given' by USCIS on the I485 file, EAD and A.P. As she did not have first name in passport.
We recently got her name change on passport by adding my(husbands name) as SURNAME. Now we want to refelect this change on EAD and 485.
Sir, can you please let me know the process of amendment to get name change on the file. What applicaton do I need to fill, and what documents should i send with the form. Can I do it on my own or do i have to go thru a lawyer.

You will have to draft a letter and submit all documents which you submitted for making the change on the passport. If you want assistance you can get in touch with me. These documents will include your marriage certificate, copy of your passport etc.

First thing what exactly "detention" means? Did they tie him up upside down for 2 hrs?
May be they took him to a room, where he waited along with the common man..in India politicians and filmli ones may get to jump the lines and get special treatment..so they never knew what it is like standing in the line.
SRK should use his common sense and keep quiet rather than making a fuss out of nothing..he is not APJ kalam to demand or deserve special treatment.
I remember last year, there was a news about SRK making noise in one of the European airports where he was not allowed to board the flight ahead of others and he argued with airlines staff that "I am SRK".
Note: I am not a fan of SRK..was never and will never be. I am Aamir Khan's fan :)

I have been waiting for 4.5 years, renewed 4 times EAD/AP, spent more than 8K(wife dosen't work and having 2 kids). If there is no sub labor system, I would have got long back.

It is frustrating to hear how some of the companies are bypassing and jumping ahead on the line. I thought I get some opinion; I am curious why this isn't being bunged. Although using a pre-approved labor is a legal thing, how much of sagacity does it really have? Within my little 10-12 friend circle I have had atleast FOUR people who got their GC within 8 months through this same company - KFORCE, Rapidigm Inc., utilizing pre-approved labor. It seems this company lures people with a condition that they will process their GC within couple of months, isn't this using the legal system at their business advantage.
What can we do to stop this, it is frustrating to me as I am waiting for close to four years with my GC process and been in the US for 7 years. At the same time, I see people who have been in the US for 2 years has their GC. To me this legal system does not make any sense and is a clear proof of injustice. I am thinking of talking to a legal attorney to see if this makes a justifiable case and if possible file a lawsuit for scrutiny against this company or any company that uses this facility for their benefit.
